A Sky Blue Valentine

Once again, it's Valentine's, when you pay homage to a love close to your heart. In that vein, Coventry people and fans of our football club, may appreciate this poem.

A SKY BLUE VALENTINE

Roses are red but our City is Sky Blue

Never was there a love so preciously true

Real Cov kids support where they're from

The home of Godiva and Peeping Tom

A place rich in creation and history

Built on the sweat of major industry

From Highfield Road, our spiritual home

Birthplace of the legendary Two Tone

Hitler tried to destroy us, we would not bend

Now even The Enemy are our friends

Pioneered the rise of the motor car

Danced at The Locarno, partied hard

Amidst it all, our beloved football club

Thirty four years at the top of the hub

Glorious FA Cup triumph along the way

Hope springs eternal from 87 in May

There's been years of trauma and pain

But the Phoenix City always rises again

Always in our hearts, a love sublime

Our one and only Sky Blue Valentine
